The Region

Sanctuary of Fatima

A space for reflection and prayer, the Sanctuary was born from the request made by Our Lady of the Rosary to the three little shepherds during the apparition on October 13, 1917 – “I want to tell you to build a chapel here in my honor, as I am Our Lady of the Rosary.”

In 1919, the Chapel of the Apparitions was built in the exact place where Our Lady appeared to Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta. Since then, the increasing number of pilgrims has led to the construction of the Sanctuary, with different places for worship and prayer.
